Snowshoe hike from Grimmialp on the Nidegg

The starting point for this snowshoe tour is the “Senggiweid” car park on Grimmialp at the far end of the Diemtigtal. From there, the trail begins along the floor of the valley and leads up into the kingdom of the “Waldmanndli” and on to the Sennhütte Nidegg. The route then runs along the “wildlife walk” through the Nidegg forest to the wildlife watching centre, where snowshoers can discover some fascinating facts about the local wildlife. A telescope is available for watching the free-roaming ibex herd. A little higher up, you can head to the Bergrestaurant Nideggstübli (1580 metres above sea level) for a well-earned rest. From here, you can ascend to the summit station for the Stierenberg chair lift (1740 m above sea level (not signposted, caution at piste junctions is advised). The descent from the Bergrestaurant Nideggstübli to Senggiweid runs along the edge of the Nidegg alongside the ski pistes. The view into the valley makes a worthy conclusion to the tour.
